ACUPUNCTURE
What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the most accepted forms of holistic medine throughout the world today. It is a form of art based on ancient Chinese beliefs regarding the human body and energy meridians; in other words energy pathways that flow throughout your body. The Chinese belief that this flow of energy, known as ‘chi’ is responsible in supporting a healthy body. However, if there is too much ‘chi’ or a stagnation/disruption of ‘chi’ this may lead to an inbalance. Acupuncture may help correct this inbalance.

How can Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture is an art of maniupulating energy (chi) which is circulating throughout your body, by inserting specially designed fine needles into your skin along specific meridian points. By choosing certain acupoints along the meridian pathways, equilibrium may lead to the healing of negative physical and emotional conditions.  Scientific research suggest that acupuncture points stimulate the central nervous system, having an effect on the brain, spinal cord and muscles through nerve conduction.  Very fine pre-sterilised disposable needles are used to perform acupuncture.

Will it work for me?
Acupuncture can be applied for most individuals, however, it must be noted that everyone can react different to the same stimuli. It is how one’s own body reacts and interpretates that stimuli. Acupuncture is not suitable for all individuals and there are contra indications to treatement. Therefore, the health practitioner will always advice and discuss all future possible treatments or may suggest other more appropriate alternative medical, holistic treatments. During treatment the patient may feel some numbness, tingling, heaviness or hot sensation.  The patient may feel energized by the treatment, while others may report an increase  in relaxation and tiredness.

This therapy has been found to be effective for many specific disease and health conditions; the reason being energy therapy treats the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms; some patients report to feel moderate relief from their pain or discomfort as well as well as completely disappeared; However, it is important and not to mislead – Results can vary from patient to patient. Any minor side effect of acupuncture which may occur – such as dizziness, bruising around the needle insertion are mild and self-correcting.
